Applications · Autonomous & Electric Vehicles

When the vehicle goes dark, escape must still work.

Safe-T-PunchTM supports Functional Safety by providing an independent means of emergency escape when safety-critical systems, such as powered doors, door controls, vehicle electrics, or primary exits, are unavailable due to failure, damage, or loss of power, as contained in ISO 26262.

EV transit

Electric buses & coaches

Battery-electric buses often use electrically released doors and climate-sealed glazing. After a high-voltage isolation event, crash-induced wiring fault or fire-response shutdown, doors may not cycle and powered windows will not drop. Passengers still need a rapid path through designated emergency panes.

How Safe-T-PunchTM Helps

A permanently fitted mechanical punch works whether the traction pack is live, isolated or depleted. Fleet safety cases can treat break-glass egress as independent of the HV and body-control architectures — simplifying assurance arguments for operators and authorities.

Autonomy

Self-drive vehicles

Driverless shuttles remove the trained human who would normally locate tools, reassure passengers and force doors. Cabin designs favour large glazed areas and compact doors. In an unexpected stop — software fault, obstacle, fire or remote-ops delay — occupants must self-evacuate without waiting for a roadside attendant.

How Safe-T-PunchTM Helps

Obvious, fixed devices with pictogram instructions let first-time riders create an exit without crew guidance. Because the device never leaves the window, remote operators and safety drivers are not relying on a hammer inventory check that may never happen between unmanned shifts.
